Screening Log: 1 December 2011
1. War Horse (2011, Steven Spielberg) Fine, I guess, but way thin. Thank heaven for Niels Arestrup. Also, anyone else think the first 25 minutes look like shit? Can’t tell if it was the digitial projection, but it looked flat and bland, and the shots weirdly perfunctory for Spielberg. Things pick up once the horse leaves England. Au hasard, Spielberg. [advance screening]
2. First half of /Pierrot le fou/ (1965, Jean-Luc Godard) As with Chungking Express yesterday, just testing out the Blu of this now that I live with a player. Meant to do a test drive but, as usual, got caught up and didn’t abandon it until AK and JP-B break out of their little lovers’ bubble. Probably not a good sign that I connect so easily with this film. [Blu-Ray]
