Screening Log: Holiday Fun Time Edition
1. In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011, Angelina Jolie) Thought the final five minutes retroactively made what preceded it far more interesting. But I could be wrong. Review forthcoming. [critics screening]
2. Atlas Shrugged: Part 1 (2011, One Tree Hill) My favorite trend this year: loony worldviews utterly discredited by shitty movies. Would make a great double with Anonymous. [DVD]
3. First half of /After the Thin Man/ (1936, W.S. Van Dyke) Not sure why we didn’t finish this. [Comcast DVR]
4. /Kiss Kiss Bang Bang/ (2004, Shane Black) This belatedly got me into the Xmas spirit [DVD]
5. Bits of /It’s a Wonderful Life/ (1946, Frank Capra) Was playing games while this was on, but I did fully pay attention to the nightmarish-then-finally-heartwarming final stretch. Wowza. [network television]
6. Island of Lost Souls (1932, Erle C. Keaton) Yes, creepy. [DVD]
7. Diggstown (1992, Michael Ritchie) As advertised, a hidden gem. Best part: Louis Gossett Jr. saying “boo.” [Comcast DVR, of MGMHD]
8. /The Magnificent Ambersons/ (1942, Orson Welles) Who got the Kane Blu package with Ambersons as a bonus DVD? [DVD]
8. /Die Hard/ (1988, John McTiernan) This. [DVD]
