Screening Log: 10 January 2012
1. J. Edgar (2011, Clint Eastwood) More interesting than I was led to believe, largely because it’s suggested at the end that most of what we saw is seriously subjective and largely bullshit. (Hence the super-hesitant way it deals with JEH’s homosexuality and cross-dressing.) But has Eastwood made a sleepier film? And Armie Hammer may win worst make-up ever. [theatrical screening]
2. Downton Abbey, Series 2, Episode 1
3. Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, “Outer Boroughs.” I want to eat live squid at that Korean joint. [Netflix Instant]
